All About Me
I graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania in 1991. Shortly after, I began teaching in Maryland while continuing my education to receive a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1999 from Western Maryland College. I am happily married with two daughters and live in Bowie, Maryland. I am presently working at Highbridge Elementary School in Bowie and enjoying my quick commute to work. This year I'm working with regular education kindergarten children and enjoying every minute of it!
Goals
My goals during this Step 2 training are to learn how to use a wiki and a blog for my classroom. I want to make colorful reading games for my students to increase their interests and learning . I'm interested in making homemade "easy" educational games to play as centers for each reading theme in order to practice specific skills. Since my students are so young, the materials must be made for them and require few beginner steps to complete the task. I want my students to learn independence when using the teacher prepared wikis. My goal is to also teach my children how to log on to a computer, move the mouse and investigate the given materials on a page. The wiki in my classroom will be used to enhance the reading and phonics program provided by our kindergaraten curriculum. I have added an additional resource page in order to access other content areas for my students to use in the classroom and home. I will share my wiki with my kindergarten team in order to enhance our reading program for all learners.
